Ombudsman of Uzbekistan holds meetings in Saint Petersburg

Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman) Feruza Eshmatova took part in the regular Meeting of the CIS Human Rights Commission in Saint Petersburg.

During the visit, Ms. Feruza Eshmatova met with the High Commissioner for Human Rights of the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova and the People's Defender of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Alfredo José Ruiz Angulo.

The ombudsmen exchanged views and experiences on strengthening activities to ensure migrants’ rights, improve legislative acts, and strengthen cooperation. They also shared the latest news on the mechanisms for reviewing appeals.

In particular, the Ombudsman of Venezuela noted that he was monitoring the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan, focusing on serious changes in human rights, and expressed readiness for cooperation.

At the meeting, the directions for future partnership development were outlined.

Ms. Eshmatova during her visit to Russia, met with Uzbekistan citizens living in this country.

At a reception organized at the Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Saint Petersburg, Uzbekistan citizens addressed education issues, accommodation in dormitories, ensuring labor rights, and creating decent conditions for migrants.

The appeals will be considered in accordance with the established procedure.
