Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman) Feruza Eshmatova met with the Regional Representative for Regional Office in Central Asia at OHCHR Ryszard Komenda.

As is known, in 2021 the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions assigned the institution of the Commissioner for Human Rights the “B” status. At the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the institution’s achievement of the highest status “A”, as well as discussed the reforms carried out in Uzbekistan based on the principle “In the name of human honor and dignity”.

The parties also discussed issues of further enhancing collaboration between the Ombudsman and civil society institutions, exercising public control, including effective interaction in ensuring the rights of persons with disabilities.
