14:31 / 2023-01-11

Ensuring the safety of workers, creating decent working conditions for them is one of the urgent tasks in any labor collective.

Protecting employees from occupational risks and threats, complying with labor laws are very important to ensure human rights and interests.

At a meeting of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, the draft Law “On Ratification of the Convention No. 148 of the International Labour Organisation concerning the Protection of Workers against Occupational Hazards in the Working Environment Due to Air Pollution, Noise and Vibration (Geneva, 20 June 1977)” was considered in the first reading.

What is the essence and significance of this document, and what will its ratification give Uzbekistan?

– Convention No. 148 of the International Labour Organisation consists of five chapters and 24 articles, – says MP Nodir Tilavoldiyev. – The Convention aims to adopt measures aimed at warning about the occupational risk caused by air pollution, noise and vibration in the workplace, their limitation and the protection of workers from them through national legislation, rules and regulations.

The Convention has been ratified by 47 countries, including Germany, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan and Russia. The ratification provides for certification of working conditions at workplaces, including harmful and dangerous production factors, the severity and intensity of labor processes, an assessment of the injury risk of the equipment used, and ensuring its compliance with established legislation.

The accession of Uzbekistan to this Convention will serve to take, in cooperation with the experts of the International Labour Organisation, consistent measures to introduce international standards in labor protection into our national legislation.
