ODIHR and OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Missions invited to observe the upcoming Presidential Elections in Uzbekistan

At the meeting of the Permanent Council of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the OSCE, Ambassador Abat Fayzullayev announced the upcoming Presidential Elections on 24 October 2021.

Uzbekistan delegation called on all OSCE participating States to delegate observers as part of the OSCE Election Observation Mission.

It was noted that the upcoming Presidential Elections in Uzbekistan will be held in the context of fundamental changes and democratic reforms and based on new national electoral legislation under generally recognized international standards, as well as democratic principles – openly and publicly.

It was emphasized that during the election campaign an environment for healthy competition and equal conditions will be created for all candidates; the work on the preparation and conduction of the Presidential Elections, including the voting process, will be observed by political parties that have nominated their candidate, civil society institutions, international organizations and representatives of foreign countries.
