On the eve of the Third International Bakhshi Art Festival, a contest dedicated to the 100th anniversary of people’s bakhshi of Karakalpakstan Amet Tariykhov was held in Nukus.
More than 40 bakhshis took part in the competition, organized to develop the Karakalpak folk art of bakhshi, to discover and support young talents.
Gulshinar Kudaybergenova, a teacher of the Children’s School of Music and Art No. 1 in Nukus, took first place and became the winner of the competition. The second place was awarded to students of Nukus branch of the State Institute of Arts and Culture of Uzbekistan N. Karamatdinova and A. Aitbayev, studying in the direction of the Art of Bakhshi and Reading Dastans, the third place was awarded to students of Karakalpak State University named after Berdakh, A. Alimbayev and N. Kudaynazarova, as well as a student of Nukus State Pedagogical Institute U. Azerbayev.
Winners were also defined in the following nominations: “The best dastan performer” – a teacher of the Children’s Music and Art School No. 4 of Khojeyli district O. Joldibayev, “The best melody performer” – a teacher of the Children’s Music and Art School No.5 of Khojeyli district E. Urinbayeva, “The best performer of songs” – the teacher of the Children’s School of Music and Art No. 12 Sh. Utegenova. Students of Karakalpak State University named after Berdakh, M. Alkeyev and G. Turgunbayeva, won nominations for “Best male voice of bakhshi” and “Best female voice of bakhshi”.
The winners of the competition were awarded diplomas and cash prizes.
