New Uzbekistan – on the threshold of new achievements
21:15 / 2023-04-10

Uzbekistan is preparing for an important political event – a referendum on the approval of the updated Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

It should be noted that the current version of the Constitution has incorporated the present and future priorities in the development and formation of New Uzbekistan. Representatives of various fields took part in its creation: lawyers, political scientists, economists, representatives of state and non-state organizations, the media, and civil society institutions. The experience of developed countries was taken into account.

What are the main points that characterize the change in the development paradigm?

First of all, we note that for the first time, all reforms in the socio-political, and economic spheres are associated with raising the legal status of the individual. It is no coincidence that the principle “Person – society – state” becomes the main one. From now on, any reforms must be carried out in the interests of the individual. This is the development of a civilized, secular, legal state, in which:

development and protection of property, entrepreneurship, creation of decent conditions for each person;

protection of ecology and the environment;

development of continuous education;

attention to science and innovation, recognized to contribute to the development of the intellectual potential of the individual;

the development of a welfare state, where special attention is paid to all categories of the population, especially vulnerable groups.

Great importance is given to young people, who make up 63 percent of society. By 2040, youth will make up 18 million out of a population of 50 million.

Main attention is paid to a woman, her equal rights with a man, her role in the family, where a man and a woman are equal in their status and have the same parental responsibilities for raising children.

Particular attention is paid to the implementation of a foreign policy that is designed to continue to be open and transparent, to develop bilateral and multilateral relations with neighboring countries in the region, with leading countries and international organizations.

The referendum on the approval of the updated Constitution, which will be held on April 30 this year, will demonstrate the present and the development model of New Uzbekistan.
