New TPP begins supplying energy to Uzbekistan’s Unified Power Grid
On January 11, thermal power plant with a capacity of 270 megawatts in Bukhara region began supplying energy to the unified power grid of Uzbekistan.
According to the Ministry of Energy, the first thermal power plant in Bukhara region will generate 2.2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, which will provide 80 percent of the region’s energy consumption.
Due to the high efficiency of the plant’s installations, 260 million cubic meters of natural gas will be saved annually. The saved volume of gas will make it possible to generate an additional 900 million kilowatts of electricity.
The investment project is implemented in accordance with the resolution of the President of Uzbekistan of March 4, 2021, based on a public-private partnership. The cost of the project is $150 million. It is implemented through direct investments of Turkey’s Aksa Enerji.
