New repairs and maintenance center opens up new opportunities

A center for repair and maintenance of composite aircraft components, established jointly with the Boeing Company, have been opened in Tashkent on the eve of 24th anniversary of Uzbekistan havo yo’llari (Uzbekistan Airways) national air carrier.

The event was attended by representatives of Uzbekistan Airways, Uzbekistan Airways Technics, the Boeing Company, the media.

General Director of Uzbekistan Airways V. Tyan and others pointed out that the dynamic development of the Uzbek civil aviation under the leadership of our President Islam Karimov contributed to the implementation of an ambitious program of modernizing its fleet, renovation of the ground-based infrastructure of the national airlines, which resulted in improved quality and safety of its services. New generation liners, high professional level of the staff are evidence of reliability and stability of the national airline of Uzbekistan.

Having become one of the leaders in the international market of air transportation, the national civil aviation has become the pride of our country. Only in the last five years Uzbekistan airways has implemented a number of major projects. Medium-haul aircraft Airbus A320, new passenger and cargo Boeing-767s have started regular operation. Procedural simulators and Full-flight simulators in training complex of the air company have been established. New freight and passenger terminals at the Navoi airport, modern terminals in Bukhara and Urgench have been opened. A new "Tashkent-3" air terminal for local flights and the departures hall for passengers at the "Tashkent" airport, new directions in Singapore, Volgograd, Khabarovsk, Kaliningrad, and Minsk have been opened. All airports of the country, fully renovated and modernized, provided with reliable and advanced screening equipment, have international status.

As a result, Uzbekistan Airways carried out over 23.2 thousand flights in 2015. Over 2.5 million passengers used the services of the company. It transported about 42 million tons of cargo.

Currently, the Navoi airport, which operates on the basis of international intermodal logistics center (IILC), performs cargo flights to Delhi, Mumbai, Dubai, Frankfurt, Shanghai, Seoul, Milan, Vienna, Hanoi, Zaragoza. During 2015 692 flights were carried out, the volume of cargo amounted to about 36 thousand tons, which is 16 percent more than in 2014.

New modern aircraft - this is one of the important factors of safety, regularity and availability of flights in Uzbekistan. And the service and maintenance of aircraft, offering flights to over 40 cities in Europe, Asia and America have a special place in the activity of the airline. The national air carrier is now preparing for commissioning Boeing-787 Dreamliner planes, the first two of which will come from the factories of the Boeing Company in September-November. The ultra-modern long-range Boeing-787 is based on advanced technologies and is highly cost-effective. A completely new approach to the design of passenger compartments ensures maximum comfort for passengers and crew, required for long-distance flights. The new aircraft will be used on long-haul and ultra-long range international routes and will allow non-stop flights on the route Tashkent - New York.

A new Center for repair and maintenance of composite aircraft components has started operations at Uzbekistan Airways Technics, which has the technical base and qualified personnel to provide all kinds of line and base maintenance and repair of aircraft, which are confirmed by international certificates.

It should be noted that the specialists of the airline already have experience working with composite parts of aircrafts Airbus A320 and Boeing- 757/767. With the opening of the Center, for National service provider BC opens up a new horizon in the development and the long-standing history of successful position of Uzbekistan in the global aviation market of maintenance and repair of aircrafts.

The Boeing Company has invested in a new site around half a million US dollars. The furnaces with the inert environment for processing of titanic alloys and process of pasting for repair of nose cones, as well as complete set of equipment for performance of repair of composite details of aircraft of all types were financed from these funds and supplied to the enterprise. The Uzbek experts, who have taken preliminary training on repair of details from composites for aircraft, manufactured by the Boeing, have been involved for providing effective work of the given Center. Mechanics have received theoretical and practical training at the course “Basic Composites Repair and Metal Bond” in Singapore, and engineers have taken theoretical preparation in Seattle.

- This new center, equipped with modern equipment, offers great opportunities for the success of «Uzbekistan Airways Technics», - said Vice President for sales in the Middle East, Russia and Central Asia at the Boeing Company Marty Bentrott. - Uzbek national airline was the first of the CIS countries to sign a contract for the purchase of two Boeing-787 Dreamliners. In this regard, the opening of the new center will be a new stage in our relations and will contribute to the long-term partnership.

Another joint project with South Korean airline partners is in the process of implementation: the construction of a new passenger terminal «Tashkent -4», which will be the most modern in Central Asia, is underway.
