New project will serve to development of agriculture

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the United Nations Development Programme have launched the project “Enhancing the adaptation and strengthening the resilience of farming to climate change risks in Fergana valley”.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the United Nations Development Programme have launched the project “Enhancing the adaptation and strengthening the resilience of farming to climate change risks in Fergana valley”.

Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Adkham Ikramov, UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan Matilda Dimovska, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Uzbekistan Vladimir Tyurdenev and others noted that implementation of this project in practice together with national and international partners will serve to strengthening mutually beneficial relations and development of agriculture in accordance with climate change.

It is known that agriculture is considered an important sector of Uzbekistan’s economy and main source of people’s income. Therefore, current tasks are considered to be further development of this sphere, increasing its productivity through introduction of modern innovative technologies, as well as contributing to export potential. This project covers solutions of these issues and integrated services contributing to adaptation of agricultural producers to climate change.

The opening ceremony of the project office was held at the event.
