The Ministry of Health hosted a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Uzbekistan Yoshinori Fujiyama and the Chief Representative of JICA Uzbekistan Office Suguru Miyazaki.

Uzbekistan and Japan have achieved significant results in the development of cooperation, joint programs in medicine are being implemented. A program will be implemented with the financial support of JICA within the framework of Japan's Official Development Assistance program. The $7 million project aims to improve the quality of medical care at the clinic of the Karakalpak Medical Institute. It includes 29 types of the most advanced medical technologies and simulation equipment, in particular, multislice computed tomography, a mobile clinic, a C-arm X-ray machine, a universal surgical microscope, a special working table with a microscope for otorhinolaryngologists and other equipment necessary for further improvement of professionalism in the therapy, resuscitation, neonatology, traumatology and surgery.

According to the Ministry of Health, agreements were signed between the Ministry and the Embassy of Japan in Uzbekistan with JICA and Grown Agents to implement this project.

The parties also exchanged views on other areas of cooperation.
