The Second Forum of the Regions of Uzbekistan and Belarus took place in Tashkent.
Heads of ministries and agencies made presentations on their countries’ economic potential, export opportunities, and agricultural and manufacturing potential. Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus discussed new opportunities for Uzbekistan and Belarus in agriculture and the food industry.
Projects aimed at enhancing the range of supplies of agricultural and food products and increasing their processing were presented.
At the forum, a project was agreed upon to create an experimental and exhibition site for growing an elite variety of blueberries in Uzbekistan. Close cooperation has been established in agricultural trade, science, and education.
Mastery and development of any field require knowledge and qualified specialists. An agreement was signed between the Samarkand State University of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Husbandry and Biotechnology, and the Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine, and a joint faculty was created in the “2+2” format. Students from Uzbekistan study for two years in Samarkand and Vitebsk in veterinary medicine, animal engineering, and animal husbandry and receive two diplomas.
During the forum, agreements worth $80 million were signed.
