JSC Uztemiryulkonteyner announced the launch of a new multimodal route connecting the Indian ports of Mundra, Nhava Sheva, and Chennai with Uzbekistan. This route will significantly simplify and speed up the process of cargo delivery between the two countries.
According to the company, cargo is first transported by sea from India to the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas. Then, the containers are transported by rail to the Sarakhs station in Iran, after which they are reloaded onto the platforms of JSC Uzbekistan Railways and sent through the territory of Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan to Sergeli station.

The inaugural freight train on this route has already proven its reliability, successfully delivering 20 containers, each with a volume of 20 feet, covering a distance of 2,673 km in just 20 days. The company is committed to further reducing the delivery time to 15 days, a move that will significantly enhance logistics efficiency and reduce cargo transportation costs.

The new route opens up additional opportunities for strengthening trade and economic ties between India and Uzbekistan and also promotes the expansion of cooperation in the transport and logistics sector in the Eurasian space.
