A workshop of the Committee on the Issues of Innovative Development, Information Policy and Information Technologies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on “Monitoring and evaluation of the openness of activities of the state governing bodies and administration” was held in Tashkent.

A workshop of the Committee on the Issues of Innovative Development, Information Policy and Information Technologies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on “Monitoring and evaluation of the openness of activities of the state governing bodies and administration” was held in Tashkent.

Participants of the workshop got acquainted with activities of the Public Council for coordination and monitoring of activities on ensuring the openness of activities of the state governing bodies and administration, the results of evaluation and monitoring the “openness index” of state bodies. As noted, the Council’s assessment and monitoring of the “openness index” of state bodies indicate the expected results.

Introducing a new method for ensuring openness of government agencies was discussed at the meeting. If to this day the activity of state bodies was evaluated on the basis of the work established on ensuring openness, a mechanism for assessing the quality, quantity and effectiveness of this work will now be introduced. At the same time, dialogue of the heads of state bodies with a wide audience is envisaged. This method will be applied from July 1 this year.

Information on best practices in ensuring the openness of activities of state bodies, wide use of modern information and communication technologies in bringing to the public a reliable and up-to-date information was provided at the event.
