Tashkent hosted a symposium “New Horizons of Economic Cooperation between Türkiye and Uzbekistan”, organized by the Economic Research Foundation of Türkiye and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan.
According to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, the President of the Economic Research Foundation of Türkiye, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Incekara, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sadik Safayev, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan Davron Vakhabov, TİKA’s Program Coordinator in Tashkent Cemalettin Tüney, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Türkiye to Uzbekistan Olgan Bekar, as well as Deputy Minister of Trade of Türkiye Sezai Uçarmak addressed the event.

They noted that Uzbekistan creates all conditions for a successful investment climate, development of the business environment, and entrepreneurship. In his speech, Davron Vakhabov noted that today Türkiye is one of the five largest trade partners of Uzbekistan. He also recalled that in January-October 2022, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Türkiye amounted to $2,690.5 million, in particular, exports – $1,286.7 million, imports – $1,403.7 million.

As of November 1, 2022, there are 2,130 enterprises operating in Uzbekistan with the participation of Turkish investors. Of these, 811 are joint ventures and 1,319 are foreign enterprises operating based on 100 percent Turkish capital. The main activities of these enterprises are the textile industry, trade, transport and logistics, the provision of various services, construction, furniture production and others.
B2B meetings were held between businesspeople working in agriculture, construction, water supply, furniture production and legal services.
