National Interbank Processing Center (NIPC) and Mastercard international payment system signed a Memorandum of Intent. It is planned to cooperate in two main directions of development of non-cash payments.
The first is to support accepting HUMO payment cards for payment in the international Mastercard network – issuing HUMO International cards.
NIPC Director Sh. Kurbanov notes that holders of HUMO International payment cards will be able to pay at all points in Mastercard network: book hotel rooms, buy tickets via the Internet and carry out other online transactions. The use of HUMO International payment cards will be available not only abroad, but also in Uzbekistan.
The second direction is introduction of non-cash fare on public transport. The NIPC and Mastercard came to an agreement on implementation of a pilot project in cooperation with Tashkent Metro to receive HUMO payment cards and Mastercard cards when paying for the metro.
An important aspect of cooperation will become enhancing the security of all participants in the payment market by providing new high-tech products and solutions for protecting against fraud.
HUMO payment system is designed to improve the payment infrastructure, integrate with international systems and create a single payment space, as well as a national payment switch.
