New Ambassador of Belarus to Uzbekistan

The newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to Uzbekistan, Alexander Ogorodnikov, presented copies of his credentials to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov.

According to the ministry, the meeting included discussions on the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation. In particular, views were exchanged on further strengthening trade-economic and humanitarian partnerships, developing interparliamentary relations, and enhancing regional cooperation.

On January 14, 2025, the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, appointed Alexander Ogorodnikov, previously the First Deputy Minister of Industry, as the country’s new Ambassador to Uzbekistan. He replaces Leonid Marinich, who has led the diplomatic mission since 2018.
