In Guliston, the founding conference of the Sirdaryo Regional council for the coordination of work activities of people’s self-governing bodies has taken place.

Members of the republic’s council for the coordination of work activities of people’s self-governing bodies, representatives of the management of the Mahalla (neighbourhood) public charity foundation, the mangers of this foundation’s regional and district departments and the chairmen of neighbourhood citizens gatherings attended the conference.

It was said at the conference that under the leadership of the President, reforms were being implemented to improve the work of people’s self-governing bodies.

It was also said that these reforms were producing great results.

At the same time, neighborhoods not only express the interests of various sections of the population but also play a significant role in increasing their social activeness.

A Presidential decree dated 3 February 2017 on measures to further improve the neighborhood institution specifies the tasks of raising the effectiveness of work of people’s self-governing bodies, strengthening their material-technical base and further expanding their cooperation with state bodies and civil society institutions.

At the conference, there was discussion about the founding of the regional council for the coordination of work activities of people’s self-governing bodiesand a number of issues relating to it.

The hokim (governor) of Sirdaryo Region, Gh.Mirzayev, was elected chairman of the regional council for the coordination of work activities of people’s self-governing bodies.

At the event, delegates were elected to the founding conference of the republic’s council for the coordination of work activities of people’s self-governing bodies.

Tasks were also mapped out relating to setting up public monitoring groups at such councils in localities.
