Negotiations with OSCE Co-ordinator of Activities to Address Transnational Threats

On November 26, 2021, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev met with OSCE Co-ordinator of Activities to Address Transnational Threats, Alena Kupchyna, via videoconference, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

The parties discussed the state and prospects of Uzbekistan's cooperation with OSCE in the Afghan direction.

A.Kupchyna highly appreciated the position and approaches of the Leadership of Uzbekistan concerning the current situation in Afghanistan, especially on the need to take measures as soon as possible to improve the humanitarian situation in this country.

Views were exchanged on the OSCE program consisting of targeted measures to respond to the consequences of the situation in Afghanistan. These measures include: reducing risks at the border, eliminating vulnerabilities and increasing the resilience of communities, using opportunities to strengthen cooperation and interaction in the region.

The OSCE Co-ordinator noted the importance of holding this meeting on the eve of the upcoming meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council on December 2, 2021, in Stockholm.
