On September 16, 2021, the 17th meeting of the Council of the Interbank Consortium of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO IBC) was held under the chairmanship of the State Savings Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan “Amonatbank”, in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Davlatali Said, Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Hokim Kholikzoda, SCO Secretary-General Vladimir Norov and Chairman of the Board of the State Savings Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan “Amonatbank” Ikromi Sirojiddin Salom addressed the event.
The event was also attended by the heads of development banks of the SCO member states. The main attention at the event was paid to the issues of enhancing interaction with international financial institutions operating in the SCO space and the Asian region, maintaining investment cooperation of IBC member banks, personnel training and exchange of experience.
The meeting participants noted the importance of the practical implementation of the new version of the Strategy for further development of the SCO IBC in the medium term (2022-2026), adopted at the meeting, which is considered as an important tool for joining efforts and coordinating positions on deepening multilateral cooperation within the IBC.
According to NBU, the adopted Strategy provides for a set of measures to overcome the consequences of the pandemic, create conditions for inclusive economic development, stimulate trade and investment, as well as areas of cooperation between IBC member banks for the next 5 years.
SCO Secretary-General Vladimir Norov noted the significant contribution of the IBC as a leading public institution in the development of banking, financial and investment cooperation within the SCO, as well as in the implementation of projects in finance, high technologies, transport and communication infrastructure, energy and investment in the SCO region.
New models of financing large investment projects, small and medium-sized business projects, development of investment and financial activities of the IBC, as well as the introduction of innovative banking services in a pandemic were noted in the report of the Chairman of the Board of the National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of Uzbekistan. The significant role of the approved Strategy for further development of the SCO IBC for the medium term (2022-2026) was also noted, and the development of an appropriate roadmap for the implementation of key points of the Strategy was proposed.
Heads of the IBC member banks noted the success of the chairmanship of the State Savings Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan “Amonatbank” at the site of the SCO IBC during the ongoing pandemic.
Following the event, the chairmanship of the SCO IBC Council for 2021-2022 passed to the Uzbek side – National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of Uzbekistan.
