There are sports that, in addition to technical training, require tremendous physical strength and endurance. Mountaineering in particular – climbing high mountains and conquering inaccessible peaks – stands out for its uniqueness. For enthusiasts of this sport, the aspiration to reach greater heights and the desire to conquer majestic summits with strength and passion become a powerful life motivation.
Notably, among the employees of the National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of the Republic of Uzbekistan, there are colleagues who, like in other sports, are passionate about mountaineering and have made it a way of life – a significant achievement for the team.

On January 29, 2026, bank employee Andrey Tarantin climbed to the summit of Aconcagua – the highest mountain in South America and the Western Hemisphere, with an elevation of 6,960.8 meters, located in the Mendoza Province, Argentina – and successfully placed the NBU flag at the very top.
Andrey, an NBU employee with many years of service, has been actively engaged in mountain trekking since 2021. In fact, this is not his first achievement. He has experience climbing several 3,000-meter peaks in Tashkent, Kashkadarya region, and Surkhandarya region. Moreover, in May 2023, Andrey rose to the summit of Mount Elbrus in Russia, the highest point in Europe at 5,642 meters. In May 2024, as part of the same group, he successfully ascended Mount Giluwe (4,368 meters) – the highest volcano in Australia and Oceania, located in Papua New Guinea. On June 24, 2025, Andrey also conquered Mount Ararat (5,137 meters) – one of the highest peaks of the Caucasus mountain range.

This achievement by NBU team member Andrey Tarantin continues the victories of our colleagues. NBU consistently supports its employees’ initiatives and aspirations in this field and expresses its high confidence in them.
