A festive event dedicated to Navruz was held at the UN Headquarters in New York, organized by the Permanent Mission of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the missions of Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, India, Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Türkiye.
The event was attended by senior officials of the UN Secretariat and the General Assembly, as well as heads and representatives of the diplomatic corps in New York, academic circles, and members of the public.
A congratulatory message from UN Secretary-General António Guterres was read, in which he extended greetings to the countries celebrating this holiday of spring and renewal.
Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan Ulugbek Lapasov noted that in Uzbekistan, Navruz is one of the most ancient, vibrant, and revered holidays, one that unites people, showcases rich cultural diversity, and promotes dialogue and mutual respect. Attendees were also reminded of the deep respect in the country for its ancient and great history, rich culture, and ancestral heritage.
