19:24 / 2023-02-08

The national subscription to Web of Science was launched in Tashkent in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the World Bank, Clarivate and several other organizations.

At the event, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Shakhlo Turdikulova noted that science is developing rapidly in Uzbekistan, which is based on publications of research scientists in priority areas of science.

The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation is taking several measures to ensure that higher education institutions and research institutions of Uzbekistan could subscribe to leading international databases of scientific publications. One of them is the Web of Science database owned by Clarivate.

The launch of Uzbekistan's national subscription to the international Web of Science database, the creation of opportunities for its use by research scientists, and broad conditions for publishing were discussed at the event.

Vice President at Clarivate Stephen Hawthorne demonstrated the capabilities of the Web of Science database. He drew the special attention of the participants to the feedback from users of this platform – representatives of universities, research institutes.

Customer Success Architect of the company Valentin Bogorov commented on the information about the articles published by Uzbek scientists in the journals of Clarivate on the Web of Science platform.

He spoke about the issues of financing the national subscription to international scientific databases for Uzbek scientists, higher education institutions and research institutions to develop the activities of researchers, doctoral students and scientists, providing them with consulting support. Thanks to this, Uzbekistan’s scientists will be allowed to use the world scientific resources of the Web of Science for free for 3 years. The creation of a national subscription of Uzbekistan to the Web of Science will expand scientific cooperation, open new directions, widely involve undergraduates and doctoral students in the scientific process, and get acquainted in detail with their research.
