Uzbekistan delegation led by the Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change Aziz Abdukhakimov is attending the sixth session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-6), which takes place from February 26 to March 1 in Nairobi, Kenya.
According to the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan, UNEA-6 participants focus on combating the triple planetary climate change crisis, loss of the natural environment and biodiversity, environmental pollution, and increased waste.
The five-day session program includes plenary sessions, side events on human mobility in the face of climate change, environmental pollution, loss of biodiversity, and other pressing issues, press conferences, and high-level dialogues.
At the event, Mr. Abdukhakimov will hold several meetings with the Assembly participants to strengthen cooperation in environmental protection and prevent biodiversity loss.
The official UN portal reports that over 70 ministers and three thousand members of national delegations are participating in the forum.
Political leaders are expected to discuss 20 draft resolutions during the session. They call on countries to improve air quality, tackle climate change, limit chemical pollution, combat desertification, and end biodiversity loss.
