Moscow opens a monument to the First President of Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan delegation departed for Moscow to attend the upcoming opening ceremony of the monument to Islam Karimov.

Uzbekistan delegation consisting of employees of the President’s Administration, deputies, senators, members of the government, heroes of Uzbekistan, champions, youth who have achieved success in various fields, poets and writers, scientists, the older generation departed for Moscow to attend the upcoming opening ceremony of the monument to Islam Karimov.

The monument erected in the center of Moscow represents Islam Karimov on the background of Samarkand’s Registan Square. The idea of its creation belongs to the famous British sculptor Paul Day. The sculpture embodies the character of a strong-willed politician, a wise statesman who cares about his people.

It is symbolic that the monument to Islam Karimov opens on the eve of the state visit of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to Uzbekistan at the invitation of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

There were friendly relations between President Vladimir Putin and the founder of independent Uzbekistan, the great statesman Islam Karimov. Sincere friendship laid the foundation for strategic partnership between the two countries.

Vladimir Putin and people of Russia remember Islam Karimov as an outstanding person who selflessly worked for the development of Uzbekistan and the well-being of people, who ensured peace and stability in the most troubled times. His wise policy on strengthening Uzbekistan – Russia cooperation based on principles of peace, generosity, mutual consent and equal partnership is rightfully recognized.

Opening of the square named after the First President of Uzbekistan and a monument to him in the hero-city of Moscow is the embodiment of respect and reverence for the memory of Islam Karimov, a symbol of consistently strengthening friendship between Uzbekistan and Russia.
