More than 20 buildings received the status of objects of the modernist era

At the initiative of the Art and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan, 21 buildings received the status of objects of the modernist era. They were included in the list of objects of national cultural heritage.

The resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of April 22, 2024 “On introducing amendments and addenda to the national list of real estate objects of tangible cultural heritage” was adopted.

The document aims to implement state control over the protection, preservation, and use of the tangible cultural heritage of the modernist era, considered the national treasure of the people of Uzbekistan. It also aims to systematize monuments and preserve their historical significance.

In the first stage, ten new objects were included in the list, and additions were introduced to the status of 11 objects. These include the State Museum of Art, the Uzbekistan and Shodlik hotels, the Cosmonauts metro station, the Palace of Aircraft Manufacturers, and others. The list comprises the Sun Institute, the Tashkent Circus, the Tashkent TV Tower, the Palace of Friendship of Peoples, the Alisher Navoi Palace of Arts, the Turkiston Concert Hall, and its summer area.

The initiative belongs to the Art and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan, and the Foundation is also preparing to nominate the buildings mentioned above of the modernist era for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

In addition, based on this resolution, the Cultural Heritage Agency, together with the Cadastre Agency under the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regional and Tashkent city hokimiyats, will develop measures to include objects of the modernist era in the state cadastre in the prescribed manner.
