This year, farmers of Samarqand Region cultivated cotton in 88,700 hectares of land. Today measures are being carried out to harvest ripened cotton in fields there qualitatively and in a short space of time.

In this crucial period of time, more than 100 itinerant shops have been arranged by trading enterprises in the region for the purpose of creating the necessary conditions for cotton pickers and agricultural machinery operators as well as employees of farms to work efficiently and to have a good rest and of providing quality trading and consumer services for them.

At a demonstrative seminar held in Pastdargom District on the initiative of the regional hokimiyat (governorate), there was discussion about the supply of foodstuffs and non-food items to these itinerant shops and about the provision of quality services by them.

“Eight itinerant shops have been arranged at farms in our district for workers participating in the cotton-harvesting work. Reserves of 32 types of products have been created for sale by these shops during the season. Payment terminals and cash registers have been acquired for transactions in cash and with plastic cards,” says the deputy chairman of the Pastdargom Barakali Savdo LLC in Pastdargom District, Samad Sanaqulov.

Additional measures were mapped out at the seminar to provide local people and cotton pickers with consumer goods, clothes and foodstuffs. Farms and relevant organizations concluded agreements with suppliers.

The hokim (governor) of Samarqand Region, Z.Mirzayev, made a speech at the seminar.
