The President signed the Decree “On additional measures to improve the activities of the Committee for Family and Women”.
In accordance with the document, the subordination of the Committee for Family and Women from the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction was transferred to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan. To organize the activities of the Committee effectively, the position of Deputy Prime Minister – Chairperson of the Committee for Family and Women was introduced in the executive structure of the Cabinet of Ministers based on the existing staff of the Deputy Prime Minister.
The share of women in leadership positions has reached 35 percent. In 2022-2023 alone, 398 thousand women were employed, 100 thousand were admitted to universities on a preferential basis, 170 thousand were provided with preferential educational loans to pay off contracts, 14 thousand women are studying for free in master’s programs, 198 thousand trained for a profession.
As part of programs to support women’s entrepreneurship, over 4 trillion UZS of loans have been allocated for 225,000 projects this year, and almost 40 thousand women received 179.1 billion UZS of subsidies.
According to the Head of the Information Service of the Committee for Family and Women, Saodat Boymirzayeva, starting February 1, 2024, professional training courses on the establishment, development, and improvement of women’s entrepreneurship in home-based work and handicrafts will be launched in education institutions. The costs associated with these courses will be financed from the State Trust Fund for the Support of Family and Women within the approved cost estimate. The state will cover 70 percent of the training costs of each graduate studying a specialty in education institutions, but not more than five times the basic calculated value.
Starting February 1, 2024, as an experiment, Family Judges will begin working in the Samarkand and Namangan interdistrict courts for civil cases, consisting of two judges.
