A monument and street named after the classic of Belarusian literature, academician Konstantin Mickiewicz, known as Yakub Kolas has been opened in the center of Tashkent. 

Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Belarus is embodied in close cultural ties and friendly relations between people of the two countries. This is evidenced by the installation in Tashkent of a bust to the great Belarusian poet and public figure Yakub Kolas.

Yakub Kolas – Belarusian Soviet writer, poet and translator, public figure. One of the founders of new Belarusian literature. His works have been translated into more than 40 languages of the world.

Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nodir Otajonov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Mikhail Rusy and representatives of state and public organizations of Uzbekistan, various national cultural centers, writers and poets, literary critics and art historians took part in the opening ceremony.
