At the prestigious competition within the framework of the VI International Festival “The World of Maqom”, held in Baku, Azerbaijan, the well-known performer, senior teacher of the Maqom Performance Department of the Uzbek National Institute of Musical Art named after Yunus Rajabi, Mokhichekhra Shomurotova, was awarded the Grand Prix.

The festival is held to develop the maqom art and exchange views with specialists in the field.

Ms. Shomurotova, the “Shukhrat” medal owner, won several national and international competitions. She makes a worthy contribution to the development of the national maqom art.
