Modern pharmaceutical cluster based on the South Korean experience to be created in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan delegation led by the Minister of Health Alisher Shadmanov visited the Republic of Korea to strengthen bilateral cooperation in development of the pharmaceutical industry.

As previously reported, Uzbekistan delegation led by the Minister of Health Alisher Shadmanov visited the Republic of Korea to strengthen bilateral cooperation in development of the pharmaceutical industry.

During the visit, A.Shadmanov met with the leadership of the university and the Eulji clinic. The Korean side stated its interest in establishing a university branch and clinic in Uzbekistan. The President of Eulji University Sung-Hee Hong said she plans to visit Uzbekistan in the near future to discuss further details of implementation of this project. Following the negotiations, the parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

The delegation also got acquainted with activities of Biopharmcluster that has been operating for 20 years in the city of Osan. Uzbekistan people learned about the activity of the pharmaceutical and bio-pharmaceutical companies located here, research institutes, clinics, laboratories and venture funds.

According to the Ministry of Health, after preliminary negotiations, the parties agreed to create a working group to prepare the roadmap for the creation of a modern pharmaceutical cluster in Uzbekistan, which was reinforced by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Health and Biopharmcluster of the Republic of Korea.

In general, the visit of the delegation of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Korea was informative and laid the foundation for strengthening bilateral cooperation.
