Scientific practical conference was held on “The use of modern information technologies in protection of cultural heritage sites” in Mirzo Ulugbek madrasa of Registan complex, in Samarkand.

At the event, organized by Samarkand State University, the International Institute for Central Asian Studies (IICAS), Lublin University of Technology (Poland) and the Registan complex, main attention was paid to issues of protection and preservation of cultural and historical heritage objects, their study. Scientists, architects and information technology experts presented their reports.

In May-June 2018, scientists from Lublin University of Technology visited Samarkand, got familiar with the use of information technologies in preserving cultural heritage sites and studying their history.

– During that visit the guests scanned the composition of the lion and deer on Sherdor madrasa’s column portal, counted the proportionality of colors, the volume and placement of details in millimeters, – says Azamat Samadov, Deputy Director of the Independent Directorate of Registan ensemble. – On this basis, recommendations were developed for preservation of these monuments, an agreement was reached on cooperation. It was secured by the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Registan ensemble and Lublin University of Technology. This conference is the result of this collaboration.

Participants of the conference noted that the use of modern information technologies is necessary, and it is important to rely on the unique methods of activity of our great ancestors in reconstruction and restoration of architectural monuments, historical places in the country. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Poland to Uzbekistan, Petr Ivashkevich attended the event.
