Ministry of Transport and PPP Development Agency Sign Agreement with EBRD

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will assist in implementation of the public-private partnership (PPP) project “Construction of Tashkent – Samarkand highway”.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will assist in implementation of the public-private partnership (PPP) project “Construction of Tashkent – Samarkand highway”.

An agreement has been signed between the Ministry of Transport and the PPP Development Agency.

According to the Press Service of the PPP Development Agency, the EBRD will attract international consultants as part of technical assistance. According to the signed agreement, international experts together with specialists of the ministry will carry out the necessary work for the implementation of the PPP project in several stages, including a comprehensive examination and preparation of the project, taking into account legal, financial and technical aspects. The parties will consider all possible options for implementing the project, taking into account the peculiarities of the region.

Earlier, the EBRD assisted the Government of Uzbekistan in attracting international experts to develop a draft PPP law, approved on May 3, 2019. This is not the only project of the government of Uzbekistan and the EBRD in attracting investments using the PPP mechanism.
