The current state of rendering endocrinological assistance to the population of Uzbekistan, measures being taken in the country on development of the sphere, the attention paid to the expansion of international cooperation in this process were discussed at the meeting. Participants of the meeting exchanged views on contemporary methods used in the world practice for early diagnosis of diabetes, in particular its second type, proposed by Y.Pakhomov, a project on conducting screening of diabetes mellitus of the second type among the population of Uzbekistan.

As reported by the Information Service of the Ministry of Health, this project will start in October this year. The pilot project will cover medical facilities in the city of Namangan and Turakurgan district, the city of Bukhara and Gijduvan district.

In short, in Uzbekistan, activities have been launched on early diagnosis and prevention of diabetes mellitus. The project of screening the second type of diabetes will be carried out in two stages: a pilot project for determining the most appropriate methodology for Uzbekistan and the main stage within the framework of which it is planned to deploy a national screening system for the second type diabetes in the country.
