The Ministry of Health hosted a meeting with Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Uzbekistan Tilo Klinner.
It was noted that in recent years, cooperation has been developing not only in the political, economic, cultural and spiritual spheres, but also in medicine. Germany helped overcome the effects of the pandemic. As part of the COVAX program, the AstraZeneca vaccine was supplied, modern laboratories, diagnostic equipment, means of protection against COVID-19, as well as an antibody cocktail drug in the amount of 10,000 doses were donated.
The establishment of close cooperation with an authoritative research institution for the study of infectious diseases in Europe – the Robert Koch Institute and the famous Charité clinic contributed to the intensification of cooperation. With the participation of Heinemann Medizintechnik, Karl Storz, Greiner and KfW Group companies, the German-Uzbek Medical Consultative and Diagnostic Center was established in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, where doctors from Germany perform operations. As part of a humanitarian action organized with the help of the international charitable organization Friedensdorf International, children from Uzbekistan are sent to Germany for treatment.
The KfW Development Bank provides financial support for projects to modernize the healthcare system in Uzbekistan, a grant of 27 million euros has been allocated to protect the health of mothers and children, republican and regional multidisciplinary children’s centers will be equipped with modern equipment. Special medical institutions will also be equipped as part of a grant of 3 million euros allocated to combat tuberculosis. Another project of the bank worth 34.5 million euros is aimed at modernizing regional multidisciplinary medical centers and improving the efficiency of their activities. MSCT, angiography, X-ray equipment, and ventilators were installed at the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Center for Cardiology. Designed for 2022-2025, the project, worth 13.5 million euros, provides for the improvement of medical education and advanced training programs in Termez. The medical college will be equipped with simulation equipment.
According to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, it is planned to digitize the healthcare system of Uzbekistan together with the German company SAP, which enjoys special authority in the information and communication sphere. Cooperation is being established with the Public Foundation for the Support of Children and leading clinics of Germany.
