At the Qashqadaryo Regional music dram theatre named after Mullatoychi Toshmuhamedov, a ceremony has been held to give awards to the winners of contests held under the slogan of “My life, my destiny – my sacred homeland, my beautiful and unique Uzbekistan”. This ceremony was held by the Region’s hokimiyat (governorate) in cooperation with the South-western special military district.

The event held as part of the implementation of the presidential decree dated 2 June this year “On preparations for the 25th anniversary of the state independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan and celebrations of this holiday” was attended by prominent writers, scientists, laureates of the Zulfiya state award, talented young people, military servicemen and their family members.

B.Toshmatov, deputy defence minister and commander of the South-western special military district, and others have said that in the years of independence under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, the national army provided with modern military equipment, hardware and qualified personnel was formed and that the army serves to ensure the country’s independence, security and peace.

“I am proud that I chose the honourable profession of defending the Motherland and the nation. I participated in the contest held under the slogan of `We are children of this great country” with my poems lauding our Motherland, independence and our country’s might. I am a military serviceman. I am well aware that it is my sacred duty to ensure our Motherland’s peace and calm. Such contests serve to strengthen our feelings of patriotism and loyalty to our oath,” says Sergeant Murodjon Jorayev, a winner of the contest.

Military servicemen who became the winners of the contest and their family members were given memorable gifts.

A concert by the central song and dance ensemble of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan and singers of the military orchestra of the Qarshi garrison gave everyone a festive spirit.
