Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov has met with the Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan Bakhyt Sultanov, in Nur-Sultan.
According to Uzbekistan MIFT, the parties discussed measures to further develop bilateral trade and implement joint initiatives in this area. It was noted that over the past 4 years, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan increased by 60 percent, exceeding the $3 billion in 2020. As of November this year, the volume of mutual trade amounted to $3.1 billion with an increase of 37 percent compared to the same period last year.
Further steps were outlined to implement the set task to increase the trade turnover to $10 billion over the next 5 years.
Issues in the sphere of water use and the introduction of water-saving technologies, restoration of the ecological balance in the Aral Sea region and overcoming the consequences of the drying up of the Aral Sea were considered. Among other issues on the agenda was the prospect of the participation of the Kazakh side in the work of the First International Aral Sea Forum to be held in 2022 in Nukus.
