The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov met with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk.

According to Uzbekistan MFA, Volker Türk positively assessed the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan, including ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of citizens, improving their well-being. The High Commissioner was informed about the progress of the Constitutional reform launched in the country.

The parties discussed issues of further intensifying cooperation between Uzbekistan and UN structures in human rights.

During the three-day visit to Uzbekistan, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights plans to hold meetings and talks in several ministries and agencies.
