Meetings within the framework of the WIPO General Assembly

As previously reported, the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan Akbar Tashkulov visited Geneva to attend the Sixty-Sixth Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of WIPO.

During the visit, the Minister met with the President of the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office (HIPO) Szabolcs Farkas. A Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in intellectual property was signed at the meeting.

The Memorandum of Understanding provides for cooperation in the legal protection of intellectual property objects, the exchange of information and experience, the training and advanced training of personnel, as well as interaction in raising public awareness of intellectual property and the introduction of digital technologies in the field.

During the visit, Mr. Tashkulov held a bilateral meeting with the Director of the Division for Transition and Developed Countries at the World Intellectual Property Organization, Habip Asan.

Promising projects in intellectual property, particularly the development of a National Intellectual Property Strategy for 2027-2030, the recognition of geographical indications at the international level, professional development, and the involvement of local experts in WIPO activities, were discussed at the meeting.

Additionally, representatives from the Ministries of Justice of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan held a meeting, during which they exchanged views on the current state of cooperation and identified promising areas for its further development. Agreements have been reached on the implementation of joint initiatives.
