At the meeting, views were exchanged on further strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation, including within the framework of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly.

The parties focused on the importance of the upcoming elections, to which large-scale preparations were carried out. I. Umakhanov emphasized that the parliamentary elections will forward Uzbekistan to a qualitatively new level of development.

Chairman of the Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Ties, Foreign Investment and Tourism of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Alisher Kurmanov met with the Chairperson of the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurjan Shaildabekova.

The parties expressed the opinion that this year’s election campaign is more transparent and open, there is an expansion of dialogue between voters and observers, and increased public interest. High appreciation was given to the big changes introduced in the electoral law and the electoral process by the legislative bodies of Uzbekistan.
