Tashkent hosted a meeting of ministers of industry of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the 8th meeting of the Council for Industrial Policy of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
The heads of state industrial agencies discussed the development of industry within the framework of the SCO, ensuring sustainable growth in industrial production based on cooperation, implementing joint investment projects, introducing new technologies, attracting material and financial resources, increasing labor productivity and diversifying industrial products.
The heads of delegations exchanged views on the current issues of further cooperation in the industrial sector, taking into account the geopolitical situation in the world and possible joint responses to emerging problems.
At the event, special attention was paid to strengthening cooperation between state-owned enterprises and the connectivity of production. An exhibition was organized to demonstrate the potential of Uzbekistan’s industrial production.
At the meeting, a program to stimulate industrial cooperation between the business circles of the SCO member states, draft provisions on holding the Congress and exhibitions under the auspices of meetings of industry ministers, and create a data bank of industrial investment projects were considered.
Several projects were discussed within the framework of the meeting of the Council for Industrial Policy of the CIS member states. In particular, the drafts of the Program of Conceptual Directions for the Development of Industrial Cooperation between the CIS member states, the Concept of Cooperation of the CIS member states in the energy sector until 2035, and the Plan of Priority Actions for its implementation were presented.
The guests visited facilities that demonstrate the industrial potential and cooperation practices of Uzbekistan and got acquainted with the production process.
Following the events, an agreement was reached on the continuation of cooperation in the industry.
