Meeting with the U.S. Congress members

On August 22, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov received a delegation of the House of Representatives of the United States Congress consisting of Congressmen Trent Kelly and Darin LaHood, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

The parties exchanged views on the current state and prospects for the development of Uzbekistan – American relations.

The main attention was paid to enhancing inter-parliamentary contacts, deepening dialogue in the political, trade-investment, academic and cultural-humanitarian spheres both at the level of the two states and with the states of Mississippi and Illinois, which are represented by the Congressmen.

The current dynamics of the growth of bilateral trade and investment ties were noted with satisfaction. The Congressmen expressed their readiness to take measures to support the socio-economic reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan.

The parties exchanged views on the current situation in Afghanistan, expressing readiness for further cooperation to prevent the difficult humanitarian situation developing in that country.

Current issues of bilateral agenda, as well as the interaction of the two countries within the framework of international organizations were discussed at the meeting.
