As part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Forum “The Role of the SCO in the New Conditions: Joining Efforts in the Name of Global Security, Stability and Prosperity”, a meeting was held between IICA Director Javlon Vakhabov and SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming.
The parties exchanged views on priority areas for strengthening partnerships between IICA and the SCO Secretariat.
Zhang Ming positively assessed the research conducted in Uzbekistan on Central Asia and the SCO, noting that this Forum is a clear example of this.
In his opinion, Uzbekistan plays a significant role in ensuring security and sustainable development in Central Asia, which is the core of the SCO.
The Secretary-General noted that Uzbekistan, under the leadership of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, prioritizes the development of multidisciplinary, mutually beneficial cooperation within the SCO.
He also emphasized the success of the Samarkand Summit, which became a significant milestone in the organization’s development. The analytical centers of the member states are called upon to play an important role in implementing the decisions adopted there on expansion and working on developing ways to modernize the SCO.
At the meeting, a discussion also took place on the issues of developing regular contacts between IICA and other analytical centers of Uzbekistan with the SCO Secretariat.
