Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Gayrat Fozilov has met with the President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Margareta Cederfelt, who arrived in Uzbekistan as an international observer at the Presidential elections of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

It was noted that the participation of representatives of the OSCE PA observer mission is a confirmation of the great interest in the ongoing reforms and transformations in Uzbekistan.

Margareta Cederfelt congratulated Uzbekistan on the successful holding of the Presidential elections and expressed gratitude for the assistance provided in organizing the activities of the OSCE PA mission.

The OSCE PA President noted the high organizational level of the Presidential elections held in Uzbekistan on October 24. A positive assessment was given to the favorable conditions created for the active participation of citizens in the electoral process.

The parties exchanged views on the current issues of inter-parliamentary cooperation within the framework of the OSCE PA and the schedule of the upcoming events.

The meeting was attended by the OSCE PA Secretary General Roberto Montella, OSCE PA Vice-President, Special Representative on Central Asia Pia Kauma.
