12:52 / 2025-05-27

In Ürümqi, the administrative center of China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, events continue as part of the SCO Media Cooperation Forum.

Journalists from many countries gathered to exchange views on the pressing issue of deepening cooperation in creating a common operational space for the leading media outlets of SCO member states.

According to the program, participants toured the sights of Ürümqi and got acquainted with the activities of Chinese media organizations.

The Director General of the Uzbekistan National News Agency, Abdusaid Kuchimov, met with Li Dehua, head of the Xinjiang Branch of China News Service.

At the meeting, issues related to ensuring reliable information exchange through the establishment of consistent cooperation were discussed. The need to develop partnership relations in the context of modern demands was emphasized.

The China News Service (CNS), founded in 1952, has as its key mission providing Chinese citizens temporarily residing and working abroad with up-to-date information and news about current events in China. The agency employs 2,000 staff members, operates 33 branches nationwide, and has 30 correspondents in 20 countries (including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Belgium, Russia, South Korea, Japan, Kazakhstan, Thailand, and others).

The agency publishes newspapers and magazines such as China News Weekly, China News, The China Journalism Yearbook, and China Philanthropist, and it is also engaged in film production. CNS materials are published in Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, Italian, French, Russian, and Arabic.

The official website of China News Network receives approximately 230 million daily visits. On popular Chinese platforms such as Douyin, Kuaishou, WeChat Channels, and WeSee, the agency has over 75 million followers, while on social media, it has around 10 million subscribers.

Recently, CNS journalists have shown great interest in the Central Asian region.

There are ample opportunities and conditions for establishing cooperation between China News Service and the Uzbekistan National News Agency.

At the event, an agreement was reached to strengthen ties between the Xinjiang Branch of CNS and UzA.

Mr. Li Dehua proposed signing a cooperation memorandum and expressed interest in translating CNS-produced films into Uzbek for their screening in Uzbekistan.
