Meeting with the Chairman of the Munich Security Conference

On October 23, 2021, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the Chairman of the Munich Security Conference Wolfgang Ischinger, who arrived in Uzbekistan to observe the Presidential elections of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

According to Uzbekistan MFA, current issues of Uzbekistan – Germany multifaceted cooperation, certain aspects of regional and international issues were discussed at the meeting.

Wolfgang Ischinger highly appreciated the large-scale transformations carried out in Uzbekistan in various spheres, the results achieved in improving electoral legislation, creating favorable conditions for active participation of citizens in the political process, strengthening the role of parliament, parties and public control.

The German side welcomed Uzbekistan’s foreign policy, the main direction of which is the development and strengthening of friendly, good-neighborly and mutually beneficial relations with Central Asian countries.

Special attention was paid to the current situation in Afghanistan. The parties noted the need for involving the country in the regional economic process, assisting the Afghan people, as well as preventing a humanitarian crisis in this country.

Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed at the meeting.
