On February 23, 2022, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received the Chair of the European Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee David McAllister, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

The parties discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the EU. The main attention was paid to the intensification of the inter-parliamentary dialogue.

The sides noted with satisfaction the fruitful results of today's consultative meeting in Tashkent of the Special envoys and representatives of the EU and Central Asian countries on Afghanistan, as well as the 15th meeting of Uzbekistan – EU Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, held in Brussels on 31 January 2022.

The need was noted for strengthening interregional cooperation, enhancing trade-economic and investment ties, and attracting leading EU companies to Uzbekistan.

Views were exchanged on the schedule of the upcoming events at various levels and formats.

The parties expressed interest in the implementation of socially oriented projects in the ecologically vulnerable region of the Aral Sea region jointly with the EU and its member states.

Issues of the regional and international agenda were also considered during the talks.
