Meeting with the American political scientist

Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev met with the Senior Fellow and Associate Director of the Center on International Cooperation of New York University Barnett Rubin, who arrived in Uzbekistan as an international observer for the elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and local Councils, Uzbekistan MFA reports.
At the meeting, views were exchanged on the current situation in Afghanistan, the course and prospects of promoting the peaceful inter-Afghan process, as well as priority areas of cooperation at the regional and global levels to resolve the Afghan problem.
The parties noted the importance of continuing the inter-Afghan dialogue with the aim of creating an inclusive inter-Afghan negotiating team in Afghanistan, which could effectively negotiate with the Taliban movement on the future state arrangement of the country.
In accordance with the proposal of the American side, an agreement was reached on a regular exchange of views on Afghan issues with a view to facilitating a peaceful political process in Afghanistan.
