Meeting with representatives of the DFID delegation
On May 16, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting with representatives of the delegation of the Department for International Development of UK led by Duncan Overfield, DFID Asia Regional Deputy Head.
On May 16, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting with representatives of the delegation of the Department for International Development of UK led by Duncan Overfield, DFID Asia Regional Deputy Head.The purpose of the visit is to become acquainted with the country, develop regional trade ties, including with Afghanistan.
At the meeting, representatives of DFID became familiarized with large-scale economic reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan, measures taken on liberalization of the economy and the foreign exchange market, improvement of the business environment, supporting business, protecting the rights and legitimate interests of small business and private entrepreneurship, increasing the investment attractiveness of the country's economy.
In the sphere of development of regional relations, Uzbekistan's desire to establish good-neighborly, friendly, mutually beneficial relations with all countries of Central Asia was emphasized. The policy of Uzbekistan in Central Asia is aimed at ensuring peace and stability in the region, solving key problems of regional security, including facilitating the settlement of the situation in Afghanistan. Uzbekistan makes every effort to strengthen regional trade and economic cooperation, develop regional transport and transit infrastructure and increase trade with all countries in the region.
In this regard, representatives of DFID delegation expressed their readiness to render assistance in expanding and deepening cooperation in the field of transport and transit, development of international transport communications, logistics infrastructure, and others.
