On September 11, 2021, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Teresa Ribeiro, who arrived in Uzbekistan to attend the OSCE Central Asia Media Conference, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

At the meeting, the open and trusting dialogue established in recent years between Uzbekistan and the OSCE office on media freedom was noted with satisfaction. The firm intention was expressed to continue close cooperation in ensuring freedom of speech and the development of mass media.

The OSCE Representative highly appreciated the efforts being taken in Uzbekistan to develop independent media.

The parties also exchanged views on the current areas of cooperation related to the protection and promotion of the principles of freedom of speech and expression, assistance in studying the best foreign experience of lawmaking in the mass media.
