On October 23, 2021, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Gayrat Fozilov met with Member of the European Parliament, former Minister of Transport of France Thierry Mariani, who arrived in Uzbekistan as an international observer at the Presidential elections, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

The current state and prospects for the development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the EU, including bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation, were discussed during the negotiations.

The parties also exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan.
